Living in San Diego, it's easy to enjoy smoothies 24/7/365, as it's a sunny beach paradise. (I know, rough life). This Summer, I upped my smoothie game, and want to share my favorite recipes with you! No need to skip breakfast any longer ... these smoothies can be made SO quickly, and are perfect if you're on-the-go.
why this smoothie rocks:
Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory superfood having anti-cancer and anti-Alzheimers' properties. Turmeric:
- Is a natural painkiller and wound healer
- Improves blood sugar regulation
- Boosts the immune system
- Improves digestion, mood, skin clarity, and heart health.
The bioavailability of the active ingredient, Curcumin, is increased in the presence of fats (like coconut milk and avocado).
Combine Turmeric with the antioxidant chlorophyll from leafy greens, and you'll have a delicious powerhouse anti-inflammatory smoothie that will keep you satisfied until lunch.
ingredients + instructions
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 compressed cup of leafy greens
(spinach or kale)
- 1/4 avocado
- 1 apple, peeled and cored
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
(or 1/2-inch of fresh turmeric)
- 1-2 dates to sweeten
- Optional: Add ice if you prefer
your smoothies to be cold
Put all of the ingredients into a blender and process until smooth. Enjoy!
