On Sunday, I finished facilitating a 7-day Challenge called the "Beat The Holi-DAZE Challenge", where I shared information and motivation on how to take the DAZE out of your Holidays, and how to kickstart your health and fitness goals for 2017.
It was an absolute blast - there's nothing better than getting to work with a group of committed, motivated people who want to learn how to stay energized, joyful and calm during the Holidays (and beyond) ... and let me just say that they absolutely KILLED it in the Challenge.
It was an amazing reminder that I LOVE what I do 💖 .
Which got me to thinking about other things that I love, and you all know what I'm going to say...
SMOOTHIES 😍 .
It's been a hot minute since I've posted a smoothie recipe! Here's one of my favorite green smoothies that is not only delicious, but also detoxifying ... which may be exactly what you need during the Holidays 😉 .
WHY THIS SMOOTHIE ROCKS:
If you're feeling hungover from the Holidays, this smoothie is for you. It is jam-packed with healthy fats, protein, fiber, and greens, while fresh ginger gives it a flavorful zing. It is a mean, green, detoxifying machine due to:
- Coconut Milk - Improves digestion and can relieve constipation. Effectively moving your bowels is essential for detoxing your body!
- Apple - contains soluble fiber, which helps detox heavy metals and food additives from the body. It also contains beneficial phytochemicals (D-Glucarate, Phlorizidin, and Terpenoids) that are used by the body's detoxification system.
Ginger - Cleanses the body by stimulating digestion, circulation, and sweating. It's detoxifying effect is due to its high concentration of gingerol, which is anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic.
Spinach - Excellent source of amino acids, calcium, Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Iron, Manganese, Magnesium, Zinc, Folate, and Selenium, which boost the immune system and provide important antioxidants. It also provides fiber, which helps cleanse the colon.
Parsley - Contains all the chelating Vitamins and Minerals essential for detox: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Chlorophyll, and Folate. It also boosts the master antioxidant glutathione, balances blood sugar, and acts as a natural diuretic.
Collagen - Contains glycine, an amino acid that reduces liver damage.
- Cinnamon - Balances blood sugar, and high in antioxidants.

INGREDIENTS + INSTRUCTIONS:
- 2 cups full fat coconut milk
- 1 organic banana
- 1 organic apple, peeled
- 2" knob of fresh peeled ginger
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup parsley
- 4 Tbsp collagen hydrolysate
- 2 pitted dates
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla
- optional: 1 Tbsp organic matcha
- optional: 1 Tbsp moringa powder
- optional: ice
Put all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender and process until smooth. Serves 2. Enjoy!
